Avril an interdisciplinary artist, whose practice includes durational performance and movement art, interventions and installations, sound, photography and virtual reality. She believes in performing in spaces outside of conventional art venues or subverting how they are used, and strive to make art accessible to all. Her work across mediums is heavily informed by the nuances of performance and seeks to challenge accepted social norms and behaviours. Her practice is inherently Indian and includes folk art. The themes explored in her work include gender, abuse, sexuality, urban living and the politics of food.
She is currently training to be a certified mental health professional with a focus on queer affirmative counselling and dream work which she hopes will inform her art.
